Principal's Page

Dear Lawrence Community,

I come to you with over twenty-seven years of experience as an educator and absolutely love the work of the principal.  I began my career as a special education paraprofessional, while volunteering at a local high school and working with students with severe needs.  Since that time, I have taught special education in a psychiatric treatment hospital and multiple public school settings for students with disabilities. Following that, I made the decision to become a principal. I have over fifteen years of experience serving as a principal in Title I schools and am now beginning my eighth year at Lawrence.  I am ecstatic to start another year of learning, while partnering with our incredible students, parents, staff, and community. I believe that strong, healthy relationships are the cornerstone of a successful school.

On a personal note, I have two boys of my own.  Daniel is 9 and will start third grade this year and my older son, Henry will be 16 and beginning his 10th grade year of high school.  My wife, Jill, is a high school counselor in Louisville. My family and I enjoy camping, mountain biking, hiking and being outdoors.  Additionally, I love playing lacrosse and coaching.

Successful schools create a shared vision to idealize the collective commitments and efforts of a community. The shared vision will describe how the community should work together to create a portrait of the future. Our Lawrence shared vision is “Together We Can, Together We Will”.  Over the past four years, we have increased our community involvement exponentially. I personally invite you to partner with us in any way you can. Please reach out and ask to speak with our Family Engagement Liaison if you would like to hear about upcoming events and/or committee work at 303-982-1825.

I truly am thankful to continue to serve our community!  As always, please let me know if there’s anything I can do to support you and/or your students.

Sincerely,

Chris Benisch
